Hans Kliphuis
Director & Choreographer
Hans Kliphuis, was
born and raised in Michigan and attended a college preparatory
school theater program during his formative years. He received
six years of professional ballroom dance training under the
direction of John Form, former Broadway Dancer and
Choreographer. Other creative influences came from training with
Colin Hillary of Australia, and Peter Eggleton. In addition to
the many styles of ballroom, Kliphuis also trained in classical
ballet under the private instruction of Jennifer Franklin.
Kliphuis has
performed extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and
Canada and has choreographed numerous original productions
including music videos and commercials.
In 1993, Hans
founded Top Hat Entertainment, a professional dance company
based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While maintaining his
performing and choreographic career, he also coached competitive
ballroom students to the top 3 ranked sports within their
divisions.

Helene Pouillon

Lead Singer, Costume Designer & Producer

Helene
Pouillon
arrived in Arizona thirteen years ago and started her musical
career singing all-time favorite French songs for a variety of
public venues both locally and in France, her native country.
She performs compositions of artists such as Edith Piaf and
Jacques Brel. Currently she is dedicated to fulfilling a
lifelong dream of opera singing. Trained by Isola Jones for the
last six years, she is now performing with different
organizations, including Alliance Francaise, the Memorial Chorus
and Art Renaissance Initiative. She also directs the Civil Air
Patrol Chorus, a musical group she created. Raised in
Versailles, France, the capital of baroque music, Helene’s early
education included music theory, piano and drama. Her favorite
arias include Vivaladi’s “Sposa Son Disperezzata’ from Bajazet,
Mozart’s “Dove Sono” from Le Nozze di Figaro, and Handel’s “Let
the Bright Seraphim” from Samson.
In addition of her singing role, Helene Pouillon has designed
the many fabulous costumes that make Carnival In Venice so
colorful.

Julia
Alcantara
Flamenco Dancer &
Producer
"Veronica"
- Julia Alcantara
resides in Dallas, Texas where she works as an artist and art
consultant. Her company, Alcantara Arts, also produces
events, art exhibits and the Flamenco Company Ida Y Vuelta.
She began her flamenco training with Conte de Loyo & then went
to New York City to study with Raquel Heredia & Antonio De
Castillo. Upon moving to Albuquerque to finish her BA in Art
History and BFA in Fine Art, she was also able to round out her
dance education with Pablo Rodarte, Eva Encinias and the many
world class artists that come from Spain including: Antonio
Canales, Eva La "Yerba Buena", Alejandro Granados and Juana
Amaya, to name a few. After graduation, she toured nationally
with Romeria Flamenca and began producing her own shows
back in Dallas and Mexico with state of the art choreography by
Mariano Cruceta, Jose Junco, Omayra Amaya & hosted some of
America's finest flamenco musicians. Her most notable
venues include: The World Cup opening ceremonies, The Palace
Theater for the Performing Arts in San Francisco, a private
party by Yves Saint Laurent and most recently with the Dallas
Opera in La Vida Breve by Manuel de Falla. To

Joseph
Gonzales
Dancer & Tenor
"Giuseppe"

A native of Albuquerque, NM,
Joseph Gonzales
is trained in many styles of dance, including classical and
flamenco. He also teaches Latin and ballroom in witch he took
top places in Pro ballroom competitions. Joseph Gonzales has
performed with many dance companies such as Ballet Repertory
Theater in New Mexico and Top Hat Entertainment. You can see
Joseph each year in the Christmas Carol: The Nutcracker as
Drosselmeyer and this coming spring as Coppelius in Coppelia. To
carry out the role of Giuseppe in Carnival In Venice, Joseph has
also started to train as a tenor with Helene Pouillon who says:
"Joseph has a beautiful natural tenor voice blessed with warm
tones." |
The cast Of Carnival In Venice for the performances in Scottsdale, AZ,
in May 2007 also included flutist Celinda-Anne Levno, Pianist, Peggy
Rostron and the very talented tenor Scott M. Bennet.
